With the Anand Vihar Railway station and Metro station nearing completion and their integration along with the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in the area to be ready by the year-end,the Capital will offer seamless travel to commuters.

The elevated Metro station leads to the ISBT on the same side of the road while a foot overbridge will connect the two to the railway station which opens on the opposite side.

The railway station will be ready by the end of June, confirmed railway officials. The Metro station, however, will come up by December. In the meantime, the integration process will be in progress.

“The railway station project got delayed as we had to get permission for cutting trees. The box pushing system to construct the railway bridge under the road is a lengthy process. Over 90 per cent of the civil work on the railway station, however,is complete,” said A K Lahoti, chief engineer of the Anand Vihar Railway station project. “The station should be ready for operations by end of June,” he told Newsline.

The target for the DMRC is December for this particular station. The interchange station for the Anand Vihar line,Yamuna Bank, has already begun operations. This line will fall on the Indraprastha-Noida corridor and is expected to see 53,000 passengers per day.

“Nearly 80 per cent civil work on this station has been completed and the project should be over well within time,” said DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal.

The DMRC will be installing lifts and escalators to reach the ISBT,which is at the grade level, from the elevated station.

A foot overbridge will also come up to connect the Metro station and the ISBT to the railway station. “The foot overbridge will lead down to the platform, which is a level higher than the grade level and the circulating area at the grade level,” Lahoti said. The final integration process will provide seamless travel to commuters in these terminals and also cut congestion on the other three railway stations.

All trains originating from north-eastern,eastern and south-eastern sectors will originate and terminate in this station.
