Scooterist dies trying to save woman

Trying not to hit a woman who came on his way,a 35-year old man rammed his scooter into a running DTC bus and lost his life. The incident took place in Central Delhi on Monday afternoon.

Police said victim Shravan Kumar of Basai Darapur near Moti Nagar used to work at a fruit-vendor’s shop in Dev Nagar and was driving his employer’s scooter when the incident occurred near Rajendra Place.

“Eyewitnesses said a woman,who was crossing the road,came in front of Kumar’s vehicle. In order to save her,he lost balance and rammed his scooter into a DTC bus. His head was crushed and he was profusely bleeding. Passersby and the police rushed him to LN Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” said a senior police officer.

Kumar belonged to Ayodhya and had come to Delhi a few years ago. He is survived by his wife and four children.
