Mehta Vidyalaya bids adieu to Class XII students
The farewell function (2010-11) for the outgoing students of Class XII was held on February 18. The chief guest for the day was Vineet Joshi,Chairman,CBSE. Also present on the occasion were J Veeraraghavan,Director,BVB; Surrendar Saini,Chairperson,BVB; Ashok Pradhan,Advisor,BVB; M P Chhaya,former principal,BVB; N N Pillai,Principal,Sardar Patel College of Management; and Meena Singh,PTA representative.
After the chief guest lit the inaugural lamp, Anupa Jaitly,chief coordinator,greeted the august gathering. All the dignitaries were welcomed on the dais with potted plants a symbol of optimism and hope. In her welcome address,Rekha Sharma,the school principal,extended a warm welcome to the parents and students and introduced the chief guest. Sharma exhorted the students to listen to their inner voice,not be distracted by temptations,surround themselves with positive people and above all set goals and march wholeheartedly towards them. In his farewell address,Joshi stated that as the students venture into a world full of opportunities and freedom,the values inculcated at school should stand by them in good stead whenever they find themselves at crossroads.
Citing from personal experience,he asked the students to respect diversity and encouraged them to take a subject of their choice and interest. Saini,the chairperson,reiterated the importance of good behaviour and moral character. J Veeraraghavan,the director,expressed his belief that this batch of students would do their families,school and nation proud. While blessing the students,Ashok Pradhan,Advisor,spoke on the importance of seeking Vidya in a holistic sense. M P Chhaya,former Principal of BVB,said that the students would take the five integrated values inculcated at Bhavan where ever they went. All the other dignitaries also showered their blessings on outgoing students.
The traditional chanting of Sanskrit shlokas was followed by a vow taken by students,who sought blessings from their teachers and parents in true Indian style. Thereafter,they dedicated themselves to the nation and set their diyas down on the floral map of India. They also took a pledge to serve the motherland and uphold her values. The C Subramanian Award for excellence in character was conferred on Rukmini Choudhary of XII-A by the chief guest. The award consisted of a cash prize,a certificate and a medal. The reading of the citation by the respective class teachers was marked with solemnity as every pupil stood with lit diyas. Dhingra,the Vice Principal,proposed the vote of thanks.
Farewell ceremony at Cambridge School
Cambridge School,Indirapuram,bid farewell to the outgoing batch of Class XII students on January 31. The day began with the chanting from Holy Scriptures and words of advice from the principal,Jasleen Kaur and teachers. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp by parents,teachers and students.
Wishing the students good luck,the principal exhorted them to work hard,with the utmost dedication,empathy and compassion.
The head boy and the head girl recounted their experiences in the school in emotional and nostalgic overtones. The students of Class XI organised a colourful cultural extravaganza for their seniors during the glittering function,which included songs and dances. The highlight of the function was the awarding of titles to students,and recounting of special characteristic traits that had been observed in them through the year.
Indo-French student exchange programme at DPSSL
Delhi Public School,Sushant Lok,was proud to host 20 students,two teachers and one parent from the Cité Scolaire Internationale de Lyon,France,from January 24 to February 2 as part of an Indo-French student exchange programme. In 2009,18 of our students along with two teachers visited France and got a taste of its rich culture and cuisine. Coordinator of the French programme,Madame Simone Raymond,thanked everyone for the heart warming welcome she received and said she was looking at this experience as a wonderful way of discovering India. The students spent a fun and learning-filled 10 days and participated in a myriad of activities.
They also went to the Lotus Temple,Rajghat,India Gate and Dilli Haat and went on a sightseeing trip to the Pink City. After that,they partook of meal at Chokhi Dhani on the outskirts of Jaipur. On the day of the valedictory function,they thanked principal Dr Ruchi Seth and Sukla Mukherjee,the French language teacher,and mentioned that this had been the mother of all exchange programmes. The most important aspect of the trip was making friends and carrying back fond memories after a remarkable trip. Senior school headmistress Vinita Mehra bid them a fond farewell. They were then presented with mementoes and CDs of photographs that captured the highlights of their trip.
Send-off ceremony for St Marks Class XII students
St Mark’s Sr Sec Public School,Meera Bagh,hosted an informal farewell party for the outgoing students of Class XII. After a grand lunch,certificates of merit were given to outstanding students and office-bearers.
There were three rounds for the Mr & Miss SMS Contest,question-answer round,talent round and written test. The coveted titles were bagged by Ms SMS Ashima Gujral of XII-C and Mr SMS Arsh Marwaha of XII-B.
The winners were Aashish Sawhney of XII-E, Marsheneil Koul of XII-E,Rythem Raswant of XII-B and Aparajita Pandey of XII-A.
Apeejay School celebrates Annual Appreciation Day
Apeejay School,Pitampura,held its annual prize distribution ceremony February 8. Neha Berlia,member,management board,Apeejay Stya & Svran Group,graced the occasion as the guest of honour. Several eminent educationists and members of the managing committee attended the ceremony.
D K Bedi,principal,presented the annual school report highlighting the achievements of the school and accolades received by it. The programme was dedicated to the memory of its founder chairman,Late Stya Paul. A drama titled Satyanaad was presented by the students of the school to depict the larger-than-life persona of Dr Stya Paul. The rich depiction touched a chord in the hearts of the audience,bringing Dr Stya Pauls message to the fore.
The achievers were honoured with prizes and certificates,besides trophies for outstanding performance in academics and co-scholastic activities.
