Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay was on Thursday elected a member of the Delhi Development Authority. He will represent the South Municipal Corporation.
The House of the South corporation which met on Wednesday, put Upadhyay’s candidature to vote against Congress’s Satish Gupta.
Upadhyay won by a single vote.

Of the 104 councillors in the House, 97 members voted, 48 in favour of the BJP. However, though Congress has only 29 members in the South Corporation, its candidate secured 47 votes.
Upadhyay said he will push to get land allotted for various schemes of the corporations. “My priority will be to get land allotted for our schemes such as landfills, building community centres, parks and hospitals. These schemes tend to remain stuck for long due to delay in land allotment.”
