Both ONGC and Salgaocar had a fair measure of the playing conditions at the Tau Devi lal stadium in Gurgaon. But for a few sitters and the one point both managed to salvage, they had a tough time in the windy conditions made worse by the drizzle.
The crosses swung the wrong way and a few hoardings chasing away a bunch of midfielders formed a major chunk of the amusement on offer.
The football on display wasnt half as dull as the goalless scoreline might suggest. The Goans, for most part, had the upper hand but ONGC had their moments too. Salgaocars Rocus Lamare,Anil Kumar and Alvito Rodrigues combined for all the attacks in the first half but the ONGC custodian,Rajat Ghosh Dastidar repelled everything.
ONGCs Mangut Mbwas,on the return, ripped through defence only to push it back for someone when there was none. Most of Salgaocars attacks were aided by the wind and despite the change of sides it kept chasing ONGC.
