For faster treatment, shorter waiting period, separate paediatric OPD counter set up at Safdarjung Hospital
The new counter is on the second floor of the OPD building, near the previously situated paediatric OPD.

Safdarjung Hospital has started a separate Out-Patient Department (OPD) registration counter for the children coming to its paediatric department. This is expected to facilitate the children with a faster treatment and will also reduce the waiting time.
According to a senior doctor from the paediatric department, this is an important move because many children suffering from seizure, fever, and thalassemia, and children on long-term follow-up come to the OPD. “This will reduce the waiting period for such children,” said the doctor.
The new counter is on the second floor of the OPD building, near the previously situated paediatric OPD. The former paediatric OPD was not limited entirely for children’s registration.
This paediatric department, one of the busiest departments in the hospital, attends children from 0-14 years of age. The department sees around 800 to 1,000 patients each day.
Apart from Delhi, children also come from the NCR and nearby states.
“In a tertiary care set up , a lot of sick patients too come to the OPD, who require attention as early as possible. Many of these patients often show symptoms of vomiting, dizziness requiring immediate care. The new counters will reduce the waiting time by an hour,” said the doctor.
Safdarjung Hospital, central government’s largest hospital, is the second busiest in Delhi after AIIMS. Around 10,000 patients come to the OPD per day.
