It took exactly 123 balls the number of balls faced by Rohtak Road Gymkhanas opener Gaurav Goel to take the match away from Sonnet Cricket Club at the Om Nath Sood Memorial quarter-finals on Wednesday. In that time,Goel scored a brilliant century 129 runs, with 15 fours and one six to lead RRG to 270/7 in 40 overs and his side into the last four of the tournament.
RRG skipper Deepak Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first before his side was rocked by Sunny Sehrawats consistent bowling (4/46). But Goel stitched up a 102-run stand for the third wicket with Mohit Sharma. A late onslaught by the skipper helped the side post a commanding total.
In reply Karan Harit (60) played a captains knock and Milind Kumar (81) offered some resistance.
