Rickshaw-puller gets 7-year jail for raping minor

A Delhi court sentenced a rickshaw-puller to seven years in jail for raping a five-year-old girl. After the Delhi government recently approved a comprehensive relief plan for rape victims,a court on Thursday recommended the grant of the compensation amount to the girl.

Additional Sessions Judge Narinder Kumar recommended the compensation under the Delhi Victim’s Compensation Scheme,2011,which was approved by the Delhi government on May 14 for victims of rape,acid attacks,human trafficking,child abuse and kidnapping. Under the scheme,approved three days ago,a rape victim will get compensation of Rs 2-3 lakh.

The victim was raped on November 6,2010.
