Former Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly and incoming BJP Rohini MLA Vijender Gupta has demanded that 6 Flagstaff Road, which was occupied by ex-Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal before he stepped down, be “restored to its original state”.

In a letter to L-G V K Saxena, Gupta demanded “immediate action” against illegal construction and “gross violations of rules” at the property which is owned by the Public Works Department.

In his letter, Gupta alleged that the AAP convenor had transformed his official residence into a grand “Sheesh Mahal” using public funds, which was “completely illegal and unethical”. “… Modifications were carried out without any official approval or adherence to prescribed procedures. The residence’s area was expanded from 10,000 sqm to 50,000 sqm, encroaching upon adjacent government properties…,” he wrote.

He also stated that the Kejriwal government “illegally incorporated” eight Type-V flats at 45 and 47, Rajpur Road, as well as the government bungalows at 8A and 8B, Flag Staff Road, into the Chief Minister’s residential complex. Gupta demanded the “immediate removal of these encroachments” and called for the separation of 8A and 8B Flagstaff Road from the CM residence complex. He urged the L-G to conduct “a thorough investigation and take strict action against those responsible”.
