The Delhi Legislative Assembly passed a resolution during the one-day session of the House on Monday, alleging that the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are “misusing their power and trying to crush the AAP.”

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was questioned for nearly nine hours by the CBI in relation to the excise policy case on Sunday.

The resolution was moved by AAP’s chief whip Dilip Pandey and stated: “The PM and the BJP have long tried to contain the fast rise and expansion of AAP and growing popularity of its national convenor… However, having failed to stop the growing popularity of Arvind Kejriwal in remotest parts of the country, the PM has unleashed all central agencies including CBI and ED to crush the AAP…”

Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, asked why former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and former minister Satyendar Jain were being denied bail if CBI and ED had filed fake cases against them.

Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla, meanwhile, called the L-G’s “objection” to summoning a one-day session of the Assembly, without proroguing the budget session, an “insult” and said attempts are being made to “diminish the dignity and power of the House”.

BJP MLAs, in protest of what they alleged was the “unconstitutional functioning” of the Assembly, staged a walkout after tearing the resolution, which they argued had been presented against the BJP-led Centre in violation of rules.

During the session, Kejriwal, who is also AAP’s National Convener, doubled down on his attack against Modi over the issue of his educational qualifications without naming him.

Narrating a tale of an uneducated king in the Assembly, Kejriwal said there was a need for a change of guard at the top.

“The moral of the story is that if there are problems like inflation then you need to check if the ruler is educated or not and replace him with someone educated,” he said.

Kejriwal also accused the Centre of targeting him and his government for providing welfare schemes, such as free power, water and education.
