Refused match to light cigarettes,five kill man

Police on Wednesday arrested four persons for allegedly killing a watermelon seller,who refused to give them a matchbox for lighting their cigarettes in Dabri,near Dwarka.

Police on Wednesday arrested four persons for allegedly killing a watermelon seller,who refused to give them a matchbox for lighting their cigarettes in Dabri,near Dwarka. Police recovered bloodstained clothes and the weapon used to commit the crime,a brick,from the spot.

According to police,Vinay alias Rahul (19),Manoj alias Chhotu (26),Sandeep Kumar alias Pandu (19),Akash (20) and another unidentified person asked the victim,Vishnu Dev (52),for a matchbox to light their cigarettes on Tuesday night. “When Dev refused,they attacked him with a brick lying on the road. They continued to punch and kick him until he fell onto the ground,bleeding profusely,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) A K Ojha.

The victim’s elder son,Dilkhush (21),told the police that he and his mother saw five persons fleeing after brutally assaulting his father. “The victim’s wife and son had become concerned when she did not find Dev in his shop. When they looked around,they saw the accused assaulting Dev,” Ojha said.

Police said the accused were planning to flee to Haryana. A hunt has been launched for the fifth accused.
