Ramjas students on hunger strike for hostel seats

Students at Ramjas College are on a hunger strike since Monday demanding the revocation of a recent staff council decision regarding the allotment of hostel seats.

Students at Ramjas College are on a hunger strike since Monday demanding the revocation of a recent staff council decision regarding the allotment of hostel seats.

According to the new rule,hostel seats would be allotted on basis of merit. The hostel admission would not get carried forward. For every new session the student’s grades in the previous two years would be taken into consideration.

Alok Das,a member of the hostel committee,said he was aware of the stir,but was yet to get any communication from them or the college on further action.

The decision on the new rule for hostel admission was taken during June 29 meeting of the staff council and the hostel committee .

The new rule has ‘displaced’ as many as 110 students,who say they were not aware of it when they left during vacation.
