The Delhi High Court on Wednesday directed the police to provide protection to a woman, who was allegedly beguiled by a constable into marrying him even though he already had a wife and two children.
The court asked the department to ensure that no harm is caused to her after she revealed that the policemen had earlier refused to take action on her complaint and that she was still getting threat calls on her sisters phone.
The court had taken a suo motu cognizance of the letter written by her, narrating the sequence of events that led her to marry accused constable Om Bir in March 2008.
Meanwhile, the counsel for the Delhi Police informed the court that an FIR under provisions of rape had already been registered against the accused and the investigation was handed over to the District Investigation Unit and the ACP concerned.
