At a candlelight vigil held by AAP at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday. (Amit Mehra)Delhi saw candlelight vigils and prayer meetings on Wednesday as hundreds gathered to pay homage to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
At a candlelight vigil held by AAP at Jantar Mantar, party’s Delhi convenor Saurabh Bharadwaj lashed out at the BJP-led Centre. “Since 2014, every year, a terror incident has happened in our country. You took away the law and order of Kashmir by making it a Union territory and removing Article 370. This is a failure of the government,” Bharadwaj said, adding that the attack was the result of an intelligence failure.
A group led by right-wing Hindu Jagran Manch, meanwhile, raised slogans against the Pakistani Army while chanting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name. “There might have been intelligence failure. But the Opposition is doing politics,” said Dinesh Jindal, a member.
A prayer meet by Bhartiya Sarva Dharma Sansad was held at the Imam house on KG Marg. ‘
“India is a land of peace. Anyone who believes in any religion has to stand up today against this,” said Acharya Goswami, who attended the meet with religious leaders from other communities.
