Union Minister for Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy on Tuesday announced that a three-member committee will be constituted to seek a report on the Haryana governments proposal to link Bahadurgarh and Faridabad to Delhi via the Metro.
The committee will be headed by Union Urban Development Secretary; chief secretaries of Delhi and Haryana will be the other members.
The Metro link issue had been raised by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in the 31st meeting of the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Reddy also directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to take immediate action on Haryanas proposal to constitute a zonal plan for areas in Delhi. The proposal aims to ease traffic congestion by constructing new roads in view of increasing traffic flow between Delhi and Haryana for this a zonal plan will be required at the earliest,Hooda said during the meet.
The Haryana Chief Minister also said the government plans to link Gurgaon with the Indira Gandhi International Airport through high-speed Metro rail service and the matter had already been taken up with DMRC.
Hooda urged the DMRC to reconsider its proposal to connect Sonepat-Kundli Multi Functional Urban Complex with the Delhi Metro and prepare a detailed project report.
