Not celebrating yet,AIIMS test ahead: topper

As long as he can remember,Siddharth had always wanted to be a doctor. And with the result of the Delhi Pre-Medical Test (DPMT),that dream appears unbelievingly real.

Siddharth Jain (17) has topped the Delhi Pre-Medical Test.

“Both my parents are doctors, and as long as I can remember,I have always aspired to be one,” the student of Delhi Public School,Rohini, says.

Siddharth attributes his success to his family, school and coaching institute. “My parents guided me constantly and were always there whenever I felt stressed. I am thankful to my school as well as my coaching institute,Narayana Institute,as it could not have been possible without them,” he says.

For Sidhharth, the secret of his success is hardwork. “I did not prepare specifically for DPMT but for all entrance exams. I don’t feel one needs to study day in and day out throughout the year. But yes,I did put in extra effort on days when I didn’t attend school or my institute,” he says.

In today’s world of competition,he feels, coaching is necessary. “I believe school provides the base and the coaching institutes provide the edge to succeed. But at the end of the day,it is all about individual hardwork and self-study. That’s the real backbone and foundation of success,” he says.

But Sidhharth is not celebrating yet. He is preparing for the elite All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) entrance test: “Right now,all my focus is on preparing for the AIIMS entrance test. It’s certainly a far better prospect than any other medical school in the country.”
