Fresh prote left the buyers, who are hopeful since the Master Plan clearance came in,worried.
A month after National Capital Region Planning Board cleared the Greater Noida Master Plan 2021,paving the way to restart construction work that had been on hold for a more than a year, farmers held fresh protests on Sunday morning.
Close to 200 farmers shouted slogans and prevented construction at Gaur Green City housing project, claiming many had not been paid the revised compensation amount ordered by the Allahabad High Court.
Police force was called in to disperse the protesters, who were from Bisrakh,Patwari and surrounding villages.
The Allahabad High Court had asked the Noida and Greater Noida authorities to give farmers, whose land was acquired under the urgency clause,an additional 64 per cent compensation and 10 per cent developed plots. There are several farmers who have not received their share. The Greater Noida Authority and builders, who have to share the financial burden, are dismissive towards our demands. This is our right according to High Court directions. We have been left with no choice but to agitate, said Manver Bhati,a farmer leader.
Protesters also forcibly locked the main gates of Gaur Green City project.
We received a call that there were agitators disrupting work. Police force was deployed and the situation became normal in half an hour, a senior police officer said.
Fresh protests left the buyers, who are hopeful since the Master Plan clearance came in,worried.
We had talked to the administration to ensure that such incidents do not affect work. We have waited so long for our homes, and have done no wrong. As long as the High Court has given clearance, the authorities must take steps to avoid disruption of work, a member of Noida Extension Flat Owners and Members Association said.
