A sub-inspector was pulled off duty and sent to the police lines for not registering an FIR in a robbery case in Sarai Kale Khan on Tuesday night. S-I D K Tejwan was the in-charge of the Sarai Kale Khan police post, when the robbery took place.
A car was stolen by unidentified robbers on Tuesday night after which a PCR call was made. The S-I was negligent in handling the call. After an inquiry he was sent to the lines on Wednesday morning by senior officers, police sources said.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Virender Singh Chahal said: It was an administrative matter. If you do not find the performance of an officer up to the mark, you take some measures.
A senior officer said the Delhi Police was also reluctant to register an FIR into the matter. The station house officer of the Sunlight Colony police station under whose jurisdiction the Sarai Kale Khan police post comes also had to give an explanation about the delay in response by the police, he added.
Sources also said minutes before the car was stolen, another robbery was reported from Noida,a few km from the spot.
Not even ten per cent of the PCR calls were registered as cases by the Delhi Police last year, indicating the lack of registration of cases in the Capital.
