Early Wednesday, Arjun had allegedly slit the throats of father, ex-Armyman Rajesh (51), mother Komal (46) and sister Kavita (23).State-level boxer and Delhi University student Arjun Tanwar (20), who has been arrested for allegedly killing his parents and sister by slitting their throats on Wednesday at Neb Sarai, has claimed that his father humiliated him and his girlfriend for wanting to get married, police said on Friday.
An officer said that while Arjun wanted to get married, his father Rajesh Kumar Tanwar was opposed to the idea, as the accused was unemployed.
“Almost a week before the murder, Rajesh had found Arjun walking in a nearby market with his girlfriend. He had confronted him… When Arjun identified the woman as his girlfriend and said that they wished to get married, Rajesh had slapped him in front of his girlfriend and also scolded her. Rajesh had also said that as he was the only earning member of the family, how can Arjun think of getting married without getting a job,” the officer added.
During questioning, Arjun also allegedly told the police that one of his father’s recent outbursts was overheard by the labourers in the neighbouring under-construction building. “The labourers laughed at Arjun when he was being scolded. This made him feel even more humiliated,” the officer said.
Early Wednesday, Arjun had allegedly slit the throats of father, ex-Armyman Rajesh (51), mother Komal (46) and sister Kavita (23). Police had claimed that Arjun had a strained relationship with his family and believed they preferred his sister over him and were going to transfer the family property in her name.
