NCW rejects cop claim,seeks gangrape report

A day after police said that a 16-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped from Ghaziabad,gangraped and left outside the National Commission for Women office in Delhi,the panel said it had sought reports from police in Ghaziabad and Delhi.

Rejecting a police officer’s claim that NCW had informed the victim’s father,NCW spokesperson Kareena B Thengamam said they had not received any report on the incident. “However,NCW has taken suo motu cognizance and sought action taken report from Delhi Police and Ghaziabad Police under Section 10 of the NCW Act,” the spokesperson said.

According to police,the girl was kidnapped on July 6 from Hapur. Her family said she was whisked away by three men when she had gone to visit a temple.
