The Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested the main shooter involved in the Najafgarh salon double murder from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in the capital on Thursday.

Harsh, also known as Chintu, was arrested upon returning to India after fleeing the country with a fake passport, said the police.

On February 9, two men, Sonu and Ashish, were shot dead inside a salon in Southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh. Purported CCTV footage of the incident surfaced on social media, where one of the victims could be seen pleading with the attackers before he was shot in the head at point-blank range.

The police had said while Sonu was shot in the head once, Ashish received three bullet injuries in his head and one in his chest. They said the assailants wanted to exact revenge on the victims for allegedly leaking information about their associates to the police.

Following the murders, Sanjeev Kumar, also known as Sanju Dahiya, and Chintu emerged as the main suspects in the case. Various police teams started investigating the case. During the investigation, it was revealed that Chintu had fled the country using fake documents. Consequently, a lookout circular was issued for him.

“Chintu was reportedly last located in Baku in Azerbaijan while travelling on a fake Indian passport. He exited India from Amritsar airport to Sharjah on June 9, 2024. He was detained at Indira Gandhi International Airport, following which the Crime Branch took him into custody,” said Sanjay Sain, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch.
