N Saravana Kumar to be new DDA Vice-Chairman
Kumar is a 2000-batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre. Before joining the DDA, he served as the Principal Secretary of the Department of Food and Consumer Protection in Bihar.

Senior IAS officer N Saravana Kumar on Wednesday took charge as the Vice-Chairman of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the agency announced.
Kumar is a 2000-batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre. Before joining the DDA, he served as the Principal Secretary of the Department of Food and Consumer Protection in Bihar. He has held positions in several departments, including Communications and IT, Law and Justice, Education, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Rural Development, and Food and Consumer Protection. He has also served as District Magistrate in multiple districts in Bihar, including Patna.
During his time in the state government, he was awarded for his work in disaster management during floods and received four letters of appreciation from the Election Commission of India during elections. As part of the Rural Development department, the state received recognition from the Union Jal Shakti Ministry for water resource management. His presentation on the ‘Organic Corridor’ scheme was also acknowledged by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the DDA said.
Among the major issues Kumar will have to handle are the rejuvenation of the Yamuna floodplains, in-situ slum rehabilitation, the development of the Narela sub-city, sports centres of excellence, and implementation of the PM-UDAY scheme. The Delhi Master Plan 2041, currently being finalised, is also among the key projects on the DDA’s agenda.
Kumar holds a postgraduate degree in Science and hails from Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The DDA noted that he is interested in sports and nature.
