Mentally ill father throws five-month-old in drain

The man’s brother informed police about the incident. He told police that his brother took the infant to a drain,around 500 metres from their Sant Nagar house,and threw her in.

“On his way back home,the man met his brother. When he asked about the girl,the man said he had thrown her in to a drain. The brother rushed to rescue the child,but found her dead. He then made a PCR call from the spot,” a senior police officer said.

Police took the child’s body out of the drain and sent it for post-mortem examination. The father was arrested from his house.

“The father is mentally unsound. He did not try to run,” said Meenu Chawdhary,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest).
