Meerut: Man dies after being stabbed during Ganesh visarjan procession
Furious, his relatives and others gathered at Sardhana police station after the incident, demanding immediate arrest of the culprits

A night of celebrations turned into chaos in Sardhana in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut on Saturday, when a 24-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a Ganesh visarjan procession, police said.
The deceased, identified as Bobby Gautam, a salesman from Takiyakait Mohalla, was part of the procession moving from Ramlila Maidan towards Ganganahar, police said. As loud music and beats drums filled the air a scuffle allegedly broke out among a group of men around 10pm.
As the men allegedly hit and chased each other, Gautam was spotted soaked in blood — one hand pressed against his stomach where a knife had pierced him. He was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to the injury, police said.
According to police, Gautam was involved in a dispute with some of his acquaintances at the gym.
Furious, his relatives and others gathered at Sardhana police station after the incident, demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
His family has also accused the police of negligence. They alleged that police had not acted even after the dispute at the gym and that a settlement was reached.
Ashutosh Kumar, Circle Officer (Sardhana) said that two names — Shekhar and Abhishek — both residents of Begumabad village have surfaced. “A case has been registered and arrests will be made soon,” he said.
