In his budget speech, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced that the proposed total expenditure of Rs 46,600 crore includes Rs 6,919 crore to the municipal bodies.
“This is an increase of Rs 1,000 crore from last year. Hope this will make our brothers in the BJP happy and that they spend this money paying salaries of their staff,” said Sisodia.

However, leaders in the MCD remained unimpressed with the government’s “generosity”. Leader of House in the South corporation Ashish Sood called the budget “disappointing” as far as the three MCDs are concerned.
“The government has not given any hike for the civic bodies, and is making a hollow claim of allocating Rs 1,000 crore more than the last year.”
