MCD partially seals Delhi Tamil Education Society school in Pusa Road over ‘non-payment of property tax’
Officials said further action was likely if the dues remained unpaid

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Tuesday partially sealed the Delhi Tamil Education Society Senior Secondary School in Central Delhi’s Pusa Road area over alleged non-payment of property tax.
While the Principal’s office and several other rooms were sealed, the classrooms have not been attached to ensure that classes are not disrupted, said officials.
The Assessment & Collection Department carried out the action under Section 156A of the Delhi Municipal Corporation (DMC) Act, 1957, officers added. In a statement, the MCD claimed that multiple statutory notices were sent to the school under sections 153, 123D, 156, and 446 of the DMC Act, but the school management failed to respond.
The Indian Express tried reaching out to the school management for a response, but the authorities could not be contacted to comment on the matter.
Tuesday’s operation was carried out with the assistance of police personnel from the Rajender Nagar police station, led by the Additional Station House Officer (Addl. SHO), the statement added.
Officials said further action was likely if the dues remained unpaid.
According to the DTEA website, the association started its first school in 1923 and now has seven senior secondary schools across the Capital.
