According to the police, on the intervening night between Tuesday and Wednesday, they received a tip-off regarding the movement of Lalit in and around Sarai Kale Khan. He had been evading arrest and was declared a proclaimed offender in two robbery cases.
“Around 1:55 am, the accused was intercepted when he was going towards Waste to Wonder Park from Sarai Kale Khan ISBT side on a motorcycle. He was asked to stop and surrender by the police team,” said Aishwarya Sharma, Additional DCP, South East.
Sharma added that upon finding himself cornered, Lalit started firing on the police team without any provocation.
