Man linked to 85 cyber fraud cases arrested in Gurgaon
Police said they recovered 200 cheques of four banks and four debit cards linked to suspected fraud-related accounts from Khan

A fake employment agency based in Gurgaon, mule accounts operating in South India and a rape accused pulling the strings – this is how a cybercrime operation pulled off over 85 scams, worth lakhs of rupees, across India before the main accused was arrested three weeks ago, Delhi Police said on Sunday.
Muneer Khan alias Sahil Sharma (33), a resident of Asoti village in Haryana’s Palwal district, was arrested following a raid in Gurgaon’s Spaze iTech Park for allegedly running a fake manpower recruitment company named Meraaki Manpower Services Private Limited.
Police said the company’s name came up when a man filed a complaint on May 26, alleging that his Iphone — linked to his bank account — was stolen on May 22.
After obtaining a duplicate SIM card on May 26, the complainant received alerts for nine unauthorised UPI transactions amounting to Rs 3.98 lakh, said DCP (Crime) Aditya Gautam said. Following this, an FIR was registered, and a probe was launched.
The police discovered that Rs 1 lakh from the defrauded amount was transferred to an account in Telangana and then routed to another account in the name of Meraaki Manpower Services Private Limited.
KYC verification of the company showed the registered address of the company – in Gurgaon – had been vacated. The probe then led the police to the company’s actual “headquarters” at Spaze iTech Park, from where Khan was arrested, said the DCP.
Police said they recovered 200 cheques of four banks and four debit cards linked to suspected fraud-related accounts from Khan.
“He had set up Meraaki Manpower Services with associates Shubham, Mukim, and Munjir, using it as a front for laundering cybercrime proceeds. Multiple current accounts were opened in the company’s name to conceal the source of illicit funds. Data from National Cybercrime Reporting Portal links the company’s accounts to 85 cybercrime complaints across India,” the DCP said.
Khan had earlier been arrested in a rape case in Uttam Nagar and spent around four-and-a-half years in judicial custody, said police.
