Man helps cop in chase,shot at

A 26-year-old man who was assisting a police officer chase two men involved in crossfiring,was shot at by one of the assailants in North Delhi’s Lahori Gate area on Saturday evening.

A 26-year-old man who was assisting a police officer chase two men involved in crossfiring,was shot at by one of the assailants in North Delhi’s Lahori Gate area on Saturday evening. Police said the assailants were dressed in police uniform.

The victim,Sunny,is now battling for life at St Stephen’s Hospital. Police said Sunny is a resident of Sarai Rohilla and runs a mobile phone store.

According to police,Sunny closed his store at 8.40 pm and was on his way home with his friends Ajay and Vikas.

Ajay told police that when they reached a flyover near Lahori Gate,they noticed two men shooting at each other. They noticed one man got shot at.

It was then,Ajay said,that a police officer asked Sunny to help him chase the assailants. The officer got on Sunny’s bike.

As Sunny neared the railway tracks,the accused shot at him and the officer. The bullet hit Sunny in the neck,Ajay said.

Police have recovered an Alto car and two Pulsar motorcycles,one of which has a ‘police’ sticker. Further investigations are on.
