Man held for blackmailing doc, claims he is national shooter

Police said that on January 28, a doctor in East Delhi was allegedly contacted by Rahul.

A man, who claimed to be a national-level shooter and had represented the country at several shooting events, has been arrested by the Crime Branch along with two associates on charges of extortion and robbery.

Sandeep Singh Bundral (22), who claimed to have served as a head constable with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and his associates, Rahul (26) and Siddharth (28), were arrested from the Kohat Enclave Metro station on Friday.

Police said that on January 28, a doctor in East Delhi was allegedly contacted by Rahul. According to police, Rahul, who knew the doctor through an acquaintance, allegedly told him to meet him at his rented accommodation in Masjid Moth, where he claimed to have arranged a meeting with a few persons from the medical profession. Later, police said, the accused allegedly made an obscene video of the doctor with a woman and threatened to leak it if he informed police. The accused allegedly took away two of his smartphones and debit cards, with which they withdrew more than Rs 20,000.

“The complainant managed to flee when the accused had taken him outside… When he raised an alarm, the accused fled. After learning that the doctor had filed a case, they vacated the flat at Masjid Moth,” R S Yadav, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), said.

Police said Sandeep and Rahul knew each other since 2009. Whenever Sandeep visited Delhi, he would stay at Rahul’s house. Rahul had no permanent source of income, police said.

During interrogation, Sandeep claimed he was a national-level shooter and was employed with the J&K Police as a head constable in 2010. He claimed he left the job after 10 months. Police said he claimed to have represented the J&K Police in 10-metres and 25-metres shooting category.
