Man duped by ‘friend’ posing as policeman

An employee of a hotel in Karol Bagh,Jai Bharat,was duped of around Rs 2 lakh by an acquaintance who promised to get Bharat’s brother a job with the Railways,police said.

An employee of a hotel in Karol Bagh,Jai Bharat,was duped of around Rs 2 lakh by an acquaintance who promised to get Bharat’s brother a job with the Railways,police said. Robin Khan claiming to be a Delhi Police sub-inspector,approached Bharat,police said. Khan claimed to have contacts in the Railways,who could get Bharat’s brother a job. Bharat gave Khan Rs 1 lakh and Khan took his brother to Varanasi for a ‘medical check-up’.

A week after he returned,Khan met Bharat. Later,Bharat noticed his ATM cards missing. A police officer said,“Bharat then got SMSes informing him that Rs 40,000 had been withdrawn using his ATM card. CCTV footage at the ATM revealed that Khan had made the withdrawals. Bharat’s second ATM card was used to steal Rs 74,700 .”

Police said a case was registered and they were searching for Khan.
