Inspired by a Bollywood film,a man allegedly kidnapped his business associates 15-month-old son to teach him a lesson for not paying his dues. Police have arrested the accused and rescued the 15-month-old boy.
Police officers identified the accused as Choplal Pandey (41). He was arrested from Holambi Kalan in Outer Delhi on Wednesday evening when he went to collect the ransom amount of Rs one lakh.
Pandey was inspired by the recent film Kidnap, a police officer said.
Choplal and the kidnapped boys father,Kishan Pandey,are in the business of supply of manpower. Pandey hails from Nepal. Police officers said the accused had allegedly kidnapped the boy from the Punjabi Colony residence of Kishan on September 22 when the latter had gone to Mumbai.
According to the statement of Kishans wife Maya,Choplal visited their house on September 22 and took the child,when she went to take a bath. They later received a call from Choplal who said the child was with him. Choplal demanded Rs one lakh for the childs safe release. By this time,Choplal was under police surveillance as the boys father had filed a complaint. When Choplal went to pick up the ransom amount,he was arrested.
Choplal met Kishan when he was working as a security guard in Punjabi Bagh area.
The two started a business after they observed the high demand of Nepalis in Saudi Arabia,Qatar,Kuwait,Dubai and other countries in West Asia.
Choplal used to bring men and women from his local village promising good money abroad. Kishan,with his links sent them to countries in West Asia. Their commission was Rs 20,000 per person, a police officer said.
Police officers said Choplal started squandering his share on liquor. Kishan slowly started taking hold of business and reduced Choplals share.
Choplal then planned to teach him a lesson and kidnapped his son.
