Man ‘attacked’ with chilli powder, rods in Sangam Vihar road rage

Balraj told police that on Wednesday, he left his office and went to Malviya Nagar to meet a friend. Later, when he left for home, a bike accidentally touched the rear side of his car.

A group of men threw chilli powder in the eyes of a 40-year-old property dealer, and later attacked him with iron rods, after the latter’s car brushed against a bike in South Delhi’s Sangam Vihar area. Police said the victim, Balraj Chaudhary, was coming back from his office in Chhatarpur when the incident took place late Wednesday.

After a heated argument over the vehicles brushing, the accused brought red chilli powder and threw it at Balraj who suffered injuries to his eyes and fell down. The accused then hit him with iron rods and a hammer, said the police.

Balraj told police that on Wednesday, he left his office and went to Malviya Nagar to meet a friend. Later, when he left for home, a bike accidentally touched the rear side of his car.

“Balraj stepped out and questioned the biker. The accused got enraged and threw red chilli powder in his eyes. In the meantime, some men came in a Scorpio and attacked Balraj with an iron rod and hammer,” said Chandan Chowdhary, DCP (South).

Police said they haven’t identified the suspects yet, adding Balraj has previously been names as an accused in five cases, including that of attempted murder.
