World famous restaurant chain Le Cirque to arrive in the Capital this summer
The Bellagio has one. So does a small island in the Dominican Republic and soon,so will New Delhi. World famous Italian restaurateur Sirio Maccionis fine-dining restaurant,Le Cirque, will finally be coming to Asia this summer. The soon-to-be-completed Leela Palace,Chanakyapuri, will be their new address, the eighth branch in the world since the hotel chain started in 1974. Le Cirque currently has two branches in New York, three in Las Vegas and one in the Dominican Republic. The restaurants tagline,Table in Heaven, has been echoed by critics across the world, who have rated it among the best in the business.
Known for its spectacular circus antics that include monkeys, women on stilts, clowns and colourful tents,Le Cirque maintains its concept of controlled confusion juxtaposed with an eclectic mix of classic Italian and contemporary French cuisine. General Manager of Leela Palace,Charles Morris, said that the interior designing will be done exclusively by a design studio from Japan, and that all furniture will be custom made and handpicked especially for the restaurant in India. With the steady growth in fine dining in the city, the Indian clientele has been looking for newer, more exciting venues. Rumoured to have once cost the former President of the Philippines Maria Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo close to $20,000 for a dinner,Le Cirque is sure to catch the attention of the citys blue blood.
According to the blueprint, the restaurant will be on the 10th floor of the Leela Palace and have a seating capacity of 144. Overlooking the hotels infinity pool,Le Cirque will also have a wine lounge, live interactive cooking and offer Italian and French cuisine besides Indian.
