Kejriwal on national status for AAP: ‘Nothing short of magic’

Kejriwal further said, “All the anti-national powers have come together to destroy AAP from building schools and hospitals. They put innocent people like Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain behind the bars, but we are not scared of their threats…”

A day after getting the national status for his party, expressing gratitude to supporters and volunteers, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal said, “Ten years ago, no one would have thought that we could get even an MLA, but today, it is unbelievable and nothing short of magic.”

Addressing AAP workers at state party office in Rouse Avenue Tuesday, he said, “It felt like it was yesterday when, on November 26, 2012, AAP was formed. At that time, many people did not even believe that the party could have even a single MLA anywhere in the country. But today, in a short time, AAP has gone on to become a national party.”

He said there are 1,300 political parties across the country, but only six of them are national parties, and even out of these six, only three have governments in one or two states, among which AAP is one. “This was not possible without the support of volunteers and some bravehearts like Santosh Koli and Meera Sanyal who sacrificed their life for party’s growth. Several went to jail, got beaten up. More challenges will be hurled our way, and they will put you all in jail, but we have to continue to fight for this country,” he said.

Kejriwal further said, “All the anti-national powers have come together to destroy AAP from building schools and hospitals. They put innocent people like Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain behind the bars, but we are not scared of their threats…”

“Many more will be targeted and put in jail for at least 8-10 months, but after that they won’t be able to do anything because they will not have any evidence against you…”

Kejriwal said the AAP believes in three principles. “Kattar deshbhakti, kattar imaandaari, and insaniyat (extreme patriotism, extreme honesty and humanity) — the three pillars of the AAP’s ideology.”

He said, “If any of you wish to have a portfolio and earn money, then, either you keep that feeling out of your mind now or leave the party today…”

He added that if the two senior leaders of AAP, Sisodia and Jain, were also present on this occasion, it would have been much happier. He said they are “two great warriors and they are fighting hard against negative forces that are trying to destroy the party”.

Kejriwal said, “Despite all efforts being made by political opponents to stop AAP, the gods were with us… AAP has brought out positive politics in this country while the Opposition has done only gundagardi and vandalism… this is negative politics…”

“In Delhi, we have always asked for votes based on our work and people have voted for us… Even today, political parties in other states are promising free electricity… The AAP has changed the political narrative, and education, health and electricity are being discussed in politics now,” he said.
