District Judge Bimla Maken, while directing that the envelope containing Additional Sessions Judge V K Goyal’s reasons as to why he didn’t want to hear a case involving former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar be sealed again, has said she would hear the matter herself on June 2.

District Judge Bimla Maken, while directing that the envelope containing Additional Sessions Judge V K Goyal’s reasons as to why he didn’t want to hear a case involving former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar be sealed again, has said she would hear the matter herself on June 2.

Citing personal reasons,Goyal had recently requested the Rohini court to transfer the case regarding a missing chargesheet in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots allegedly involving Kumar. He had said he didn’t want to “try and adjudicate” the matter.

The District Judge had asked Goyal to send the court his reasons for not hearing the case in a sealed envelope. She also said the sealed envelope should not be opened except by the order of the High Court.

Meanwhile,Lakhwinder Kaur, the widow of Badal Singh who was killed in riots, has challenged the order of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rakesh Pandit accepting the closure report of the CBI in the case regarding the role of Congress leader Jagdish Tytler.

Senior Advocate HS Phoolka, who has been representing the victims, said Kaur has decided to challenge the order and on Tuesday a court will be assigned to the case.
