The police said that while no suicide note has been recovered from the spot, it is suspected that the siblings consumed Sulphas, an agricultural pesticideIn a case of suspected suicide, an officer with the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and his 23-year-old sister were found dead inside their residence at Govindpuram in Ghaziabad on Thursday evening.
The police said that while no suicide note has been recovered from the spot, it is suspected that the siblings consumed Sulphas, an agricultural pesticide.
The deceased used to live with their mother, who was not at home at the time of the incident.
Their father, who is a scientist at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, is stationed in Goa, officers added.
“When the mother returned home, she found the door locked from inside. When the two did not open the door, she attempted to contact them over the phone, but received no response. When she peeped through the window, she saw both of them lying on the floor,” said an officer.
“She called her neighbours, who helped her break the door down. The siblings were rushed to Sarvodaya Hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival,” the officer added.
“After a post-mortem examination, the bodies were handed over to the family. They have been cremated. Further investigation is underway,” said Kavi Nagar police Station House Officer Anurag Sharma.
