From visiting a restaurant in South Delhi’s Mehrauli and going to Humayun’s Tomb, Lodhi Garden and the DLF Promenade Mall — security personnel Friday made last-minute arrangements after G20 guests staying at hotels under their charge made requests to visit several places, The Indian Express has learnt.

An official with a security agency said Prime Minister of Argentina Alberto Fernández, who arrived on Friday morning and is staying at a hotel in Aerocity, made a request to visit three places. “We made arrangements after coordinating with security personnel and traffic police. He, along with his delegation, first visited Humayun’s Tomb, then Lodhi Garden and finally they had lunch at the Imperial Hotel,” the official said.

“Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, who arrived in India Thursday morning, went to DLF Promenade Mall in Vasant Kunj, while Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who arrived on Friday morning went to a restaurant in Mehrauli in the evening,” the official said.

A senior security establishment officer said most leaders put in requests with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), but they have had to cut out some places owing to security reasons. “We are ensuring the routes are safe after coordinating with the chief of protocol of the MEA, and security agencies,” the official said.

Apart from them, officials said Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida, staying in a hotel on Barakhamba Road, visited The Oberoi Hotel on Dr Zakir Hussain Marg in the evening; the President of the European Union visited Humayun’s Tomb; Spain’s Finance Minister visited the ITC Maurya hotel for dinner; Foreign Minister of Mexico visited Qutub Minar; and the Russian Ambassador visited his embassy in the evening.
