Irked over not getting discount, gym trainer shoots at Gurgaon club manager; held

The gym trainer had come with his friends to party at Dockyard Club where he had a scuffle over availing discount.

A gym trainer in Haryana’s Jhajjar has been arrested for allegedly opening fire at the manager of a club in Gurgaon early on Thursday, the police said.

According to the police, gym trainer Surendra who had come with his friends to party at Dockyard Club, in sector 47, had a scuffle with manager Amaljit over getting a discount in the bill around 2.30 am.

Surendra’s group had a confrontation with Amaljit and as they were leaving the club he opened fire and one of the bullets grazed through Amaljit’s leg.

Amaljit, a Rewari resident, alleged that one of his staff had called him to say that a person named Hani demanded discount as he knew the manager who was his neighbour.

“I told them to wait for 30 minutes if they wanted a discount. But then they left the place. By the time I reached the club, Surendra came in a black Harrier car along with 15-20 men in two black Scorpios, a Verna car, and a Jeep Compass and started hurling abuses at me,” the victim told the police.

“Surendra said I had five minutes to call anyone to save me from them,” Amaljit said. As the men were leaving, a man with a height of 5’10 allegedly Surendra, who was wearing a black shirt, fired 3-4 shots from a distance of 30 metres and one of which hit Amaljit.

Police said that they recovered two live and three empty cartridges from the crime scene. They have filed a First Information Report (FIR) under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 147, 148, and 307, and 25(1-8)(A)-54-59 of the Arms Act.

Police said that the Crime Branch team arrested Surendra, a resident of Silana, from Sector 31. It was revealed during police interrogation that due to a personal dispute, he committed the offence.

An officer, on condition of anonymity, said that the victim was sent home after an MLC report was conducted. He added that they are identifying more accused and action will be taken.
