Gurgaon man masturbates in front of woman waiting for cab, police file FIR

Krishan Kumar, Station House Officer, Civil Lines Police Station, said that the police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 75(2) for sexual harassment and 78 for stalking of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

“The investigation is underway, and the complainant has also joined the probe, and we have recorded her statement. We are scanning CCTV footage in and around the spot and talking to people in the area.”

On the same day of the incident, the model narrated her ordeal on social media and posted the video of the alleged act of the perpetrator, while also blaming the police for the delay in registering a complaint.

“Something very strange happened to me. A man came around, circling, and he was constantly staring at me. Initially, I just ignored it, like the others do,” she said. She noticed that the man with unzipped pants was allegedly masturbating. The video showed the man wearing a facemask and a backpack that he had slung over his chest to cover the act from being too visible to the public nearby.

The woman said it was clear he was ‘very aware’ of what he was doing.

The woman in her video also lamented how cab companies were delaying in accepting her ride request, aggravating her ordeal.

The complainant stated that although she had initially got a ride booked, the driver was not picking up despite multiple calls, and hence she had to re-book across applications “just to avoid the creep”.

Eventually, a cab arrived and she reached home.

In the video, she also alleged initial inaction from the police after she had tagged the police and other government authorities while putting the man’s video on X, and later calling the police helpline. “There wasn’t even an automated message,” she said.

Regarding the FIR, the model said, the police had asked her to come to the station instead of lodging the complaint online.

“It was making me feel very uncomfortable. I felt very, very disgusted. Initially, I froze. I did not record or hit him. People who say I could have shouted at him do not understand what goes through a girl’s mind at that moment. Reactions go viral faster than the real truth, and people judge; they do not help.”

The woman stated she wanted to be safe rather than have the moment become viral. “I am not making the video for any kind of attention, just want to be heard,” she said in the video.
