(Representational Photo) A 21-year-old student was arrested Monday for allegedly making objectionable remarks about the Constitution of India on his social media account. Gautam Budh Nagar police said the man posted the comment on Constitution Day, observed on Sunday, and a screenshot of it went viral online.
According to police, a resident of Patadi village in Greater Noida had filed a complaint about the comment. “The complainant, Ravi Kumar, said the accused posted an insulting comment about the Indian Constitution on his Instagram story. A screenshot of the comment was also attached along with the complaint. An FIR under IPC Section 504 (intentional insult) and relevant sections of the IT Act was registered against the suspect immediately,” said a police officer.
The man was arrested from his home and produced before a magistrate, who sent him to judicial custody, police said.
