There were minor delays in flight operations to and from the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday following a glitch in the computerised flight data-processing system of the Air Traffic Control (ATC) room.
Official sources said the system Auto Track-III was undergoing a test around 11.40 am. It was to be switched over to the safety mode and then to normal mode,once the test was complete. But the system failed to revive as expected. We had to switch to a back-up system, a source at ATC said.
As a result,movement of some domestic flights was affected between 11.45 am and 1 pm. Several in-bound flights were also made to hover for over 30 minutes. One of the systems went down around 11.40 am. But the operations were soon shifted to the secondary system. There was no effect on the flight operations and it went on without disruptions, an AAI Spokesman said.
