Despite all the protests and remonstrations by the Shakti FC team,the all-important second goal by Delhi Students striker Manoj Garg that decided the match 2-1 in the favour of the latter stood. Thinking that the referee will blow the whistle for an offside,the team backed off,leaving Garg an easy chance to score the winner in the 50th minute,but the call never came. The win was crucial for both teams,who were fighting to climb up the charts. It is ridiculous on the part of the referee. Everybody in the field knew that he was off side and our players even gave up the chase. We have lost because of him, said an annoyed Rizwan-ul Haq,Coach Shakti FC. Delhi Students drew first blood in the 12th minute,when Gargs shot was mishandled by the Shakti custodian. However,things could have been different for Haqs team,had Tushar found the net in the 8th minute. The striker hit over the bar,when he needed to be on the mark. It proved costly as Garg scored the first of his brace,courtesy the blunder from the keeper. The remaining 18 minutes play in the first half had little goal-bound action,as Delhi team was intent in keeping its lead till the breather. After the break,it was a different looking Shakti FC that took to the field,as they came out with an attacking frame of mind. And soon enough they had the chance to hit back. Prateek made a perfect cross and all Vivek had to do was connect,but he fluffed his shot. By this time though the game had opened up,as both teams went for the attack. Shakti team got another shot at the equaliser,when in the 47th minute Tejass through ball from the right flank found Tushar,but the striker failed to find the mark. But he redeemed himself a minute later. He scored shot the equaliser with a left foot strike inside the box of a cross from Kunal. Just as his team was settling in for a draw,Garg found the winner in controversial circumstances in the 50th minute,heading in an aerial volley from the right winger Santosh into the net. The win takes Delhi Students with three points from three matches while Shakti FC are yet to score in the DSA B Division football league.
