Four held, cops say dacoity bid foiled

Following the arrest of four men on Friday night, the police claim to have foiled a dacoity bid in Sukhdev Vihar.

The plot came to light three days ago when two men were held for possessing country-made pistols in the up-market New Friends Colony area.

“As the duo looked suspicious, the cops asked them to come to the police station. When the cops were taking them to the station on their motorcycles, they found a country-made pistol strapped to the belt of one of the assailants. Before the accused could take the pistol out and fire, the policemen stopped the bike and overpowered him,” a senior police officer said.

A PCR call was then made by the cops asking for more force and the duo was taken to the police station for interrogation.

During interrogation, they revealed that they were planning a dacoity in Sukhdev Vihar area on the same night and were waiting for their associates.

“On the tip-offs provided by the duo, their two other associates were arrested following raids in Faridabad,” the investigating officer added.

The four accused were later booked under relevant sections of dacoity at the New Friends Colony police station. A fifth associate named by the accused is,however, absconding.
