Two state-level boxers,a wrestler and a woman were arrested on Saturday night for kidnapping and blackmailing a businessman. A juvenile wrestler,student of Class X,was also apprehended in the case.
Police said the three men and the minor had kidnapped Joginder Singh,robbed him of Rs 17.5 lakh in cash and valuables,and clicked photographs of him with a woman to blackmail.
Ramesh Dahiya (35),a farmer; Amit Diya (21),a boxer; Pawan (20),a state-level boxer; and Lalita (20),a housewife; have been arrested,said M A Rizvi,Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer),on Sunday.
Police said Singh was on his way to his house in Narela on September 1 and he was stopped by a man in police uniform on the Shahbad Dairy main road in Outer Delhi.
Singh said the man in uniform asked him to show the car papers. Soon,the mans two aides got in Singhs Hyundai Verna and took him hostage. He was tied up with a rope and forced to lie on the floor of the car. They drove to their hideout,where the woman was waiting for them, a police officer said.
Police said the men forced Singh to remove his clothes and clicked his photographs with the woman. Later,he was tied up again and abandoned near the main road inside his car.
Singh managed to get the attention of a truck driver,who untied him and informed police.
Recently,the four men sent a letter to Singh,demanding Rs 4 lakh and threatening to send his photographs to his family.
They asked for Rs 4 lakh,to be paid on Saturday night. We laid a trap near the Auchandi border area. Singh was asked to be at the spot with fake money. After they took the money from the complainant,they tried to flee,but were arrested, a senior police officer said.
Police are looking for an acquaintance of Singh who reportedly planned the kidnap.
Investigating officers said Lalita is not related to any of the four,but was roped in to pose for the photographs.
