A 28-year-old unemployed has been arrested for the kidnapping a four-year-old boy to “make some quick money”.

A 28-year-old unemployed has been arrested for the kidnapping a four-year-old boy to “make some quick money”. According to police,the accused,Parveen,demanded Rs 25 lakh from the child’s father in ransom.

Police said the child,who is the nephew of Parveen’s sister,has been rescued unharmed.

“Parveen,a Commerce graduate,had been unemployed for about a year. He envied Anil,the boy’s father,who was leading a decent life… He wanted to make some quick money,” P Karunakaran,DCP (Southeast),said. According to the police,the grandfather of the child filed a complaint with police claiming that Parveen had abducted the child on Tuesday afternoon and demanded Rs 25 lakh for his release. The complainant told police that Parveen had also threatened them with dire consequences if the payment did not reach him.

Police said they laid a trap in a park near Saras Hotel,Faridabad,where Anil had been asked to leave the money.

A case has been registered under section 364A (kidnapping for ransom) of the IPC.
