The Haryana government has prepared a comprehensive project, estimated to cost around Rs 437 crore,to improve the power infrastructure in Gurgaon.
Under the plan,12 new power substations will be set up and six existing ones will be upgraded. Four of the new substations are already nearing completion.
Disclosing this on Friday,Deputy Commissioner P C Meena said that two more substations would be set up by private players. He said of the 12 new substations, three would be gas-insulated (GI) with a capacity of 220 KV. One of the GI substations,to be set up in Sector 20,will cater to residents of Udyog Vihar Phase II,Sectors 25,23,21,22 and 17.
Another GI substation would be set up in Sector 57 and will benefit residents of Sectors 57,56,45,50,46,47 and 48. A third one would be set up in Sector 33,which will provide better voltage supply to Sectors 33,34,10-A and 35.
Meena said each of the GI substations will cost
Rs 75 crore. A gas-insulated substation is a substation in which the major structures are contained in a sealed environment, using sulfur hexafluoride gas as the insulating medium. Such substations are more compact and, hence, require less space.
Meena said six existing substations, including a 220 KV substation and five 66 KV substations, would be augmented at a cost Rs 18 crore.
The augmentation of the 220 KV Daultabad substation will benefit residents of Palam Vihar,Sectors 10 A,9,4,5,7,2 and 23. The 66 KV substations at Maruti Udyog,Sectors 23 A,28,34 and 15 (II) will also be augmented.
Work on setting up four new substations was started at an estimated cost of Rs 166 crore, and is in the last phase of completion.
