First round over,second cut-off out

The first cut-off list was released on June 21,the first round of admissions ended on Friday evening. Compared to the last year’s second cut-off list,the portals of Delhi University are closing faster for aspirants this year.

Ten colleges including ARSD,Bharti,JDM,JMC,Kamla Nehru,Lady Shri Ram,Ramjas,Satyawati (Evening),Shaheed Bhagat Singh (Day and Evening) and SRCC closed the admissions for general category students to BCom (Hons) courses in the first round compared to seven colleges last year.

A total of 55 colleges run BCom (Hons) course.

The DU portals are closing even faster for BSc (Hons) Physics and Chemistry courses. Compared to two colleges that closed admissions last year for BSc (Hons) Physics for general students after the first round,nine have admitted their full quota this year.

Swami Shardhanand College and Keshav Mahavidyala reduced their cut-offs for the course by 15 and 7 per cent respectively. Twenty one colleges offer the BSc (Hons) Physics course.

The situation with BSc (Hons) Chemistry is also alarming. Twelve of the 19 colleges that offer the course have closed admissions,as against five colleges by the second list last year.

Hindu College failed to fill seats in any humanities course this year,while Ramjas has filled eight of its 17 courses — four each in Arts and Science. Last year,Ramjas had closed only one course after the first round of admissions.
