After sold-out shows of their play,Run for Your Wife, theatre group Dramatech Productions is ready with its latest production,a three-act play — Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi — which will be staged at the Sri Ram Centre over the weekend .

The play is split into three short stories — Bhoot and Do Behene by Munshi Premchand and The Monkey’s Paws by WW Jacob. Through these runs a common theme of “Be careful of what you desire”,and each story seems covered by a veil of pain caused by unfulfilled desires.

While Bhoot flirts with the theme of temptation and ends with a strong moral message,Do Behenein is a witty characterisation of two sisters, whose very different lives are headed for a collision. “We have tried to be as faithful as possible to the original script in case of Bhoot, and contemporarised the language, which was very ‘period’ originally,” says director Sunil Chaudhary. Do Behnein has been directed by Saurav Padhi, who says that he has “tried to bring out the author’s sarcastic style.” But,perhaps the most thought-provoking is Jacob’s classic story,The Monkey’s Paw. “It is a horror story that talks of the price of interfering with fate,” says first time director Tuhinanshu Chaturvedi, who is also a radio jockey.

The play will be staged at Sri Ram Centre on August 6 and 7. Contact: 23714307
