When Anita Dongre opened her new store at The Gallery on MG Road on Friday,Delhis causerati had much to celebrate. The designers new Grassroot Spring-Summer collection,made in association with Shop for Change,has been created with fair trade organic cotton,and tries to create a harmony between fashion and sustainability. I want the women who visit my stores to be surprised by a fresh style that is also eco-friendly, said Dongre,as guests milled around the store,sipping champagne and munching on starters as they checked out the saris,dresses and shirts. Actor Gul Panag mouthed the platitudes: I shop for change because I believe that just by being conscious consumers,we can make a change happen. Dongre added that she designs for the thinking woman. Shes well-read,and is aware of what is going on around the world. Eco-friendly fashion is the need of the hour, the designer said. Amen!
